If you are overwhelmed by the thought of long and repeated visits to the dentist and are delaying necessary treatment because of this, dental treatment under sedation may be ideal for you. At WA Dental, we understand that some people may have had negative dental experiences in the past. We want to give you a new, positive outlook on your dental visits and will do our utmost to help you feel comfortable.

Sedation Options

At WA dental we aim to make your dental treatment as relaxed as possible and for this reason, we offer different levels of sedation to relieve your anxiety, including:

Oral Sedation

A tablet is taken 1 hour prior to the appointment to relax you. The medication is prescribed by our dental professionals, so it a safe, non-invasive solution. It allows you to be fully conscious during your procedure since the recovery period is quick. It is beneficial for those who have busy schedules and need to return to their daily activities as soon as possible.

Nitrous Oxide (Happy Gas)

Dental care performed while you are under nitrous oxide is reliable, safe, and effective. A mask placed over the nose administers nitrous oxide and oxygen. This reduces pain and anxiety and is also helpful in minimizing the gag reflex. Patients often experience a feeling of well-being and euphoria. Nitrous oxide has minimal side effects and is safe for both adults and children. Once the mask is removed, the recovery from nitrous oxide is immediate and you are safe to drive home.

IV Sedation

For people who require a greater level of sedation, an anesthetist administers a sedative into the bloodstream. You will be in a sleep state and unaware of any treatment. IV sedation is effective for completing all of your dental treatment required in one sitting. Following IV sedation, the recovery period is around 20-30 minutes after the procedure. You will leave our practice accompanied by a friend or family member and can return to normal activities within 24 hours.
